Meow-ouch! Lucky escape for the cat who was shot through head with a crossbow
- Four-year-old Moo Moo only survived because the bolt missed his brain
- The bolt was embedded in his skull above his left eye
- An investigation is underway to find out what happened
A cat had a lucky escape after it was shot in the head with a crossbow.
Four-year-old Moomoo only survived because the bolt missed his brain and instead embedded in his skull above his left eye.
The metal was successfully removed by a veterinary surgeon at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
Moomoo’s owner, Donna Ferrari, was shocked to discover the injury her cat had received – Moomoo initially hid in bushes and refused to come out.
‘I’m sick to my stomach. Hopefully the person responsible is caught or feels so much hatred from the community that they never do anything like it again,’ Ms Ferrari said.
Vet surgeon Dr Jonathan Bray told 3 News Moomoo is ‘very brave’.
‘There was a little bit of injury to his nose and eye socket, but he’s an extraordinarily lucky cat. The velocity of the bolt hitting him would have been quite frightening, so he’s very brave.
‘He’s very well this morning – bright and happy, the wound is doing fine and he’s got nothing that is going to cause him any long-term harm.
Authorities are investigating the incident – Moomoo is expected to make a full recovery.
Sadly, NZ has it’s cruel bastards too.
